Know Your Goals
I’ve had a lot of students coming to the lesson frustrated because they practiced a lot but still didn’t feel any progress.
And I find the same problem with all of them: if you played for an hour, it doesn’t mean you PRACTICE an hour!
Sitting and playing the same old songs or the same solos and phrases is not enough; that’s why I recommend that before you start practicing, you ask yourself and try to be honest: What are your weak spots? Is it rhythm? Is it knowing the positions better? Being in the pocket? And so on …
I’m sure you will find a lot of stuff to practice; start with those. Even if you dedicate 15 min to the stuff that you really need to practice, it’s worth 2 hours of playing the same strums and songs!
More to come…
